Never actually made an entry on IJ before and I'm just transporting the one I just made on LJ because I'm lazy but I thought it might be nice to have a little content.
J and I were pining for BtVS on Sunday for some reason (I always pine for BtVS but I didn't know he did too) so we decided to watch a random episode. As it was going to be random I made him pick it because there's no way I could pick a random episode now.
Me: If it's a bad episode I'll tell you.
J: Are there any bad episodes?
Me: I can count them on the finger of one hand.
Guess which episode he picked?
Yup, it was "Beer Bad". Perhaps it was nostalgia but it wasn't nearly as bad as I remember it being. Neanderthal!Buffy was cute and Buffy's singleminded pursuit of beer is funnier than I thought when I first saw it. Nice that even her instinct when under the influence of magic beer is to save people, even Parker, though I cheered when she whacked him over the head. One of the more unpleasant characters on the show and I hate to think what would have happened if he'd ever met up with Warren. It's also one of the episode where I actually like Xander, compared to the many where I don't. Willow's smackdown of Parker is priceless though it's sad to see her relationship with Oz, which I always liked, start to deteriorate. Giles doesn't have a great deal to do but manages to look incredibly hot and I adored this little exchange with Xander
XANDER: Well excuse Mr. I spent the sixties in an electric Kool-Aid funky Satan groove.
GILES: It was the early seventies
and I also loved the casualness of Jack the Bartender telling Xander "my brother-in-law's a warlock". So much for the good folk of Sunnydale not knowing about what was going on around them.
In short it was fun and it felt like meeting old friends again. Of course if J had picked "As You Were" I would have told him to pick again, immediately!
Fortunately I still have the hotness of ASH to enjoy on my telly and he was absolutely terrific in this week's episode of "Merlin". Uther Pendragon Rules...in a slightly tyrannical way *g*.
Hope to see you all again in a while, hopefully not a long while
